Samsung announced its next generation of Odyssey gaming monitors, bringing higher resolution displays to competitive gaming. The lineup includes models with 5K and 6K panels, sizes from 27 to 32 inches and refresh rates reaching up to 330 Hz.
New flagship models
The Odyssey G8 (G80HS) features a 32-inch 6K IPS panel. This marks a significant leap in resolution for gaming monitors, which have typically stopped at 4K or 1440p in mainstream models. Samsung also introduced a 27-inch 5K model, targeting gamers who want sharp visuals in a smaller footprint.
Both high resolution displays run at 165 Hz refresh rates, a notable combination for users who want both clarity and smooth motion. The company also plans a 32-inch 4K model with a 330 Hz refresh rate, aimed at esports and fast paced games.
Design and connectivity
The new monitors carry Samsung's familiar Odyssey design language with slim bezels, a metallic stand and RGB lighting on the rear. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and USB-C with power delivery, supporting modern graphics cards and laptops.
Samsung confirmed support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and VESA DisplayHDR 600 on the higher end models, ensuring smooth and vibrant gameplay across a range of titles.
Why this matters
For competitive gamers and content creators, the jump to 5K and 6K displays in gaming monitors changes expectations. Higher resolution panels mean sharper text and imagery, which helps in both gameplay and productivity tasks like video editing or 3D modeling. The inclusion of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 also future proofs the monitors for upcoming GPUs with higher bandwidth needs. Anyone building a high end gaming PC in 2026 will have more display options than ever before.
Samsung has not released pricing or exact availability dates for the new Odyssey monitors but expects them to ship in the first half of 2026.
