Logitech has entered the folding mouse market with the Mobi Fold, a compact travel accessory that prioritizes durability and repairability over paper-thin portability. The device, available now at $79.99, arrives after leaked marketing images surfaced last month and signals a shift in how the company approaches ultraportable input devices.
The Mobi Fold does not flatten like Microsoft's Surface Arc mouse. Instead it uses a clamshell hinge that pivots roughly 130 degrees, folding the device in half for storage. When opened, the mouse offers a full-sized shape with a silicone skin covering the hinge and most of the body. That skin improves grip and protects the device from drops while the pleated design over the hinge prevents pinching during folding.
Built to Last With a User-Serviceable Battery
Logitech says the hinge has been tested to withstand 15 years of daily use. The device weighs 79 grams, making it slightly heavier than the company's own Pebble Mouse 2 but still light enough for travel. When folded, the mouse measures just over three-quarters of an inch tall and roughly 2.6 by 2.5 inches, a size comparable to some wireless earbud cases.
Underneath the device a removable panel grants access to the rechargeable battery. This design choice aligns with recent European Union regulations pushing for user-replaceable batteries in consumer electronics. The approach extends the mouse's lifespan by allowing owners to swap the battery rather than discard the entire device.
Packed With Features for Travelers
The Mobi Fold includes a 4K DPI optical sensor and offers three-device connectivity via Bluetooth. A button on the underside lets users cycle between paired devices. The top surface features left and right mouse buttons with a multifunction touch panel between them.
That touch panel supports customizable scrolling behavior through Logitech's Logi Options Plus software. Users can set vertical swipes for fast document navigation or line-by-line scrolling. The top and bottom edges of the panel also function as additional clickable buttons, set by default as forward and back navigation keys.
Logitech claims the battery lasts up to one month on a full charge. A one-minute quick charge provides up to 22 hours of use, a feature designed for travelers who may need to power up between flights or meetings.
Why This Matters
The Mobi Fold enters a market dominated by trackpads and ultralight flat mice. Its folding design addresses a real pain point for mobile professionals who find laptop trackpads cramped for extended use. At $79.99 it competes with Logitech's own Pebble series while offering a more compact folded profile and a repairable battery that could save users money over time.
The inclusion of a user-replaceable battery also reflects a broader industry trend toward sustainability. As regulations tighten and consumer demand grows for longer-lasting devices, Logitech's decision to prioritize repairability in a travel mouse could set a new expectation for accessories that are often treated as disposable.
The Mobi Fold is available now in graphite, off-white, lilac and sand color options globally.
